This disk has LOTS of Copy Protection on it, But it can be copied with Supercard+ WT Nibbler. More info from Jim Drew on the protection:

Tracks 1-4 are garbage and not used. Tracks 5-34 are error free,
but tracks 5-7 contain short header syncs.

I believe these are checked in the loader.

Track 35 is all AA’s (or 55’s depending how you look at it).
Track 36 is all weakbits (unformatted)..

The loading sequence is: 18, 7, 6, 5, 17, 18, 35, 36

What is interesting is that after track 36 is checked the head is
stepped between 35.5 and 36 quickly about 20 times, resting on 36.

Does anyone want to ‘crack’ this one?

Here it is, cracked my Master – What-copys-what

Double Dribble Password Book

Double Dribble disk did not contain any on disk copy protection.
BUT instead uses a manual/code book look-up. (SEE Below for the photos)
When you boot the game you immediate get this black screen below.
You need the RED Code sheet to enter the 4 digit Password to start the game.
In this case for C07 you would enter 8467, then the game would start.

Here is the Original RED code sheet – RED because it was hard to Photocopy back in the day. I just purchase an original one so I could re-scan this page:

Then I convert to B/W in Photoshop. Download and print this out:

Word from Garry Kitchen

Garry Kitchen and GameMaker

I found this signed GameMaker manual in a recent purchase.

It sure looked like it said Garry to me.
So I found his contact info, which wasn’t very hard with a Goggle Search. To my surprise I heard back in less than one day.

He told me that it is definitely something he signed. Although not 30 years ago, as I had imagined.

Quote: I often appear at retro gaming shows and participate in panel discussions, etc. The talks are often followed by a “meet & greet/autograph session.” People sometimes bring items from their collection for me to sign. I’ve seen my share of GameMaker manuals.

I also asked him about GameMaker and if he had any secrets about it:

He said: “GameMaker, it took a year+ to make. It’s definitely the product in my portfolio that I’m most proud of. I wish that I had continued to work on it/update it. It’s a shame that it stopped after the original version, it could have gone a lot further.

By the way, Pitfall took 2 weeks to write in GameMaker. And the commercially-released C-64 arcade port Crossbow was written entirely in GameMaker!”

He finished by saying: If I ever get back to working on GameMaker I’ll let you know.

WOW, just how cool is that.. Thank you Garry!
